Harley Quinn Season 2 Premiere Spoiler-Free Review
3/30/2020 9:05 am
After a short break following Season One, Harley Quinn is back for Season two and kicking ass even harder than before! We’ve seen the first episode and we’re here to give you our first impressions. To maintain the excitement for everyone, we’ll be keeping this review spoiler-free. For those who like spoilers, make sure to check back on April 3rd, where we’ll post a full recap of the episode.
Season Two picks up exactly where the Season One finale left off, give or take a week. We won’t go into the specifics, but rest assured— Gotham’s still in complete and utter chaos. With the Joker gone and the Legion of Doom destroyed, there’s no longer any system of crime by which to follow. The scene is set for Harley to take the city for her own, the problem is, will she take it? Plenty of familiar faces return for the episode, charming the viewers with their different personalities. A new character also joins the cast, and makes quite a chilly impression, if you catch our drift.
‘New Gotham’ sets up a pretty interesting direction for the remainder of the season. While Harley is no longer obsessing over the Joker, there’s plenty of other obstacles and challenges in her path to becoming Queen Bee of Gotham. More than that, while we never want Harley to change her personality, we hope that the lessons learned from last season stick with her and help her to become a more mature character. With more villains (and heroes, such as Batgirl) popping up throughout the season, they’re definitely going to test Harley and her crew, that’s for sure. On the side of romance, the trailer teased a potential romance with her and Ivy, which we’re incredibly intrigued in watching play out. We adore Kite Man, and his relationship with Ivy, but… we can’t deny the chemistry between Harley and Ivy, either.
Overall, the episode maintains the same sharp, hilariously vulgar humor from the first season. The level of violence also remains the same, if not amped up entirely. Much of it is played for laughs, but it paints a realistic picture of what would really happen when a city so prone to crime falls under total dysfunction. We anticipate that the tone will remain the same, at least based off what we saw in the first episode. The show remains a funny, quirky, and bad-ass watch, and we couldn’t recommend it more!
We'll be back on Friday with our recap! Meanwhile, let us know what you think in the forum or the comments below.

The Final Joke Recap
2/21/2020 7:16 am
Well readers, unfortunately our journey has come to an end. Today marks the finale of the first season of Harley Quinn; trust me, we’re as sad as you. These thirteen episodes have been one hell of a ride, and the finale may be wackier than all the episodes combined. Er, don’t quote that. Still, thanks for following along with us, and read on for a full summary of what went down in the season finale!
- A Cruel Recap: The finale begins with a rehash of the most painful scene; Ivy’s death at the hands of the Joker and Harley’s despair. The crew puts together a little makeshift funeral for Ivy, despite their grief. Harley is unable to say a few words, but Clayface has her covered with a moving speech, courtesy of Star Trek. They lay Ivy to rest and bury her, with Harley crying all the while. Can’t blame you, Harley, we’re still crying too.
- A Different Plan: With Ivy’s burial done, Harley immediately runs towards Joker’s tower to, you know, murder him. Lucky for her, she’s stopped by Dr. Psycho and is told she needs a plan otherwise she’ll end up just like Ivy. Harley insists that she has a plan; turns out, her plan is to team up with Batman. While Gordon briefs Batman on the situation, Harley enters the scene and hatches her plan to Batman. Surprisingly, he takes it.
- So Close: Harley and her crew approach Joker’s tower with ‘Batman’ (aka, Clayface) in tow, while the real Batman sneaks in. Joker is pleased with this gift, but insists that Harley sing him his special birthday song. As she does so, Clayface is unable to resist the performance and joins in on the finale, clueing in Joker that he isn’t the real Batman. The real Batman attempts to corner Joker, but Joker traps himself in a dome and uses a knockout gas to take him out. Once that’s done, he captures all of Harley’s crew while the gymnast runs away. Womp. So disappointing, they almost had him!
- The Crown Prince of Gotham: With Batman and Harley’s crew in his clutch, Joker is now the supreme leader of Gotham, rendering the city into complete, uncontrollable chaos. Citizens are ruled by Joker’s army, Batman is made into a total mockery, and all of Harley’s crew is subject to their own personal torture; our hearts especially ached at King Shark’s teeth being pulled out.
- Unmasked: However, Joker is getting bored. Scarecrow tries to offer up some ideas, but Joker insists they’re too one-note. To make up for it, Scarecrow offers to find out Batman’s true identity and pulls off his mask. They’re completely floored to find out Batman is Bruce Wayne, and Joker is furious at Scarecrow for doing this, as he liked the mystery of Batman’s identity. Scarecrow apologizes and tries to say that he thought it was something Harley might do, but this only increases Joker’s temper. Thus, Joker murders him with acid to the head. Can’t say he didn’t deserve it.
- Grave Talk: Under disguise of a ratty cloak, Harley visits Ivy’s grave with some dyed black and red roses. She asks for Ivy to give her a sign, and the ‘sign’ appears in the form of Kite Man. Turns out he’s been living in a tent by Ivy’s grave with Frank the plant; such a dedicated (ex?) boyfriend. He finds the wanted flyer for Harley, where she’s wanted alive for ten million dollars, and surmises that Joker wants her alive so she can see her crew executed before a rocking 80’s party. Harley is determined to stop that from happening even though it might cost her. With tears running down her face, she bids goodbye to Ivy. A tear catches on one of the black roses… turning it red and making it bloom. IVY!?
- Suicide Mission: Armed with a hot new jacket, Harley returns to Joker’s tower. She tells him that there isn’t going to be an execution and opens her jacket, revealing a bomb-laden vest. If he goes through with the execution, she’ll take herself out of the equation. Seems like Joker doesn’t want that, as the next thing we see is Harley riding the escalator up the tower. Once united with the Joker, Harley demands to see her crew, but Joker wants one thing from her first: he hands over her old costume, essentially wanting things to go back to how they used to be. Harley adamantly refuses, stating she’d rather die, but Joker says that if she blows herself up, she’ll be taking her crew down with her.
- One on One: With no choice, Harley puts on the costume and Joker lets her crew go. He admits that Harley’s been the missing piece to his happiness and she’s the reason why he isn’t truly satisfied, as he has everything but her. Harley plays pretend and believes him, only to stab him in the gut afterwards; funny, as the Joker does the same to her. The two engage in a knife fight, where Joker continues that she is his weakness, and he doesn’t want that weakness anymore.
- Return of the Vine: Joker has his goonies bring Harley to a vat of acid, claiming that he’s going to erase Harley Quinn from existence. The acid will make her normal again and take away everything that makes her Harley Quinn. Harley notices vines with roses begin to appear around the acid, and thus feels secure; Ivy’s back! She volunteers to jump into the acid and does so as Joker walks away, but he pauses when he hears no splash. Ivy has rescued Harley and looks pretty damn pissed at the Joker. Once and for all, Harley says she’s done with the Joker and has Ivy drop him into the vat of acid.
- So… Now What?: With Joker gone, Ivy and Harley reunite. Ivy says the renewing power of nature brought her back to life, and Harley couldn’t be happier. The Joker, however, isn’t finished. Having survived the acid, he presses a button that blows up his tower, and causes mass destruction in all of Gotham. Thanks to Batman, Harley and Ivy are able to escape, but no word on the caped crusader. Harley and her crew watch the wreckage from atop a building. Everything is in complete disaster, Gotham is destroyed, the Justice League is gone, Batman is missing, and the Joker… well, he made it out, somehow. Will this all be fixed in Season 2? Who the hell knows!
It’s been an amazing season! Thanks to all of the cast and crew for all of their hard work, we loved every bit of Harley Quinn and are eagerly awaiting its return. Until then, see you later bitches! Let us know what you think in the forum or the comments below.
Devil’s Snare Recap
2/14/2020 8:24 am
Happy Valentine’s Day, readers! What better way to celebrate than by watching the newest episode of Harley Quinn? Trust us, so much serious stuff goes down in the penultimate episode, you do not want to miss it. With Joker’s plan to ruin Gotham well in place, how on earth is Harley, Ivy and the crew meant to stop him? And ultimately, do they stop him? Read on to find out.
- It’s Alive!: This episode kicks off right where the last one left off, with the evil trees alive and destroying Gotham City. Even Ivy can’t control them, as the trees have mutated past the point of her powers. With no plan, Harley and Ivy run back towards the crew, nearly losing some of them in the process.
- Be Prudent, Jim Gordon: Jim watches the wreckage from above, utterly disgusted. He wants to end things once and for all by bombing the park, but Batman insists that there are civilians down there and frequently arriving, both anticipating Jazz-Fest and being lured by Scarecrow’s fear-toxin. Batman instructs Gordon to get the civilians out, but without the use of tanks.
- League to the Rescue: While Harley, Ivy and the crew do their best at wrangling the trees, it’s not good enough. Lucky for them, the Justice League arrives and lends a helping hand. Sort of. They also round up the gang and banish them to the Phantom Zone, blaming them for the evil trees. Luckily, Ivy thinks quick on her feet and wraps Wonder Woman’s truth lasso around her, admitting that they are not behind the chaos in the park (and a bunch of other, mildly embarrassing stuff).
- Return of the Queen: Superman closes the portal to the Phantom Zone and asks who is behind this attack, but he gets his answer in the form of a fairytale book. Uh oh. Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Superman are all sucked into the book, courtesy of the Queen of Fables. Harley thinks the Queen did them a solid, up until the Queen tosses a magic bean at them and sends them flying away on a beanstalk.
- On Top of the World: Needless to say, Harley and Co. are pissed at being banished to atop a beanstalk. Clayface wonders if Fables did them a solid, given what’s going on down in the park, but things are never quite what they seem. Out comes a giant, ready to inflict pain on the group. They all try to come up for an idea of how to get down, but ultimately Ivy is the one with the winner. Enter: Kite Man!
- Kite Man!: Harley wants to know why Ivy has Kite Man’s number memorized, and Ivy begrudgingly admits that she’s dating him. Harley is shocked, but no one else is, only serving to display Harley’s self-centeredness. They don’t get too much further into the discussion as Kite Man arrives to rescue them from atop the beanstalk. Despite a crash landing, everyone makes it back down to Gotham, safe and sound.
- Twists and Turns: Batman contacts Gordon for an update as he’s unable to get ahold of the Justice League. Much to Batman’s dismay, Gordon has gone ahead with the tanks and prepares to take out the trees. However, he isn’t able to fulfil his plan as Harley kicks him out of the tank and takes it for herself. After her crew loads up, they head for the Legion of Doom headquarters. Convinced that they’re the ones who started the whole thing, Harley intends to blow it up for good. Before she can fire the missile, the headquarters blows up, and up comes Joker’s new headquarters, ready for action. Is anyone truly surprised here? It’s no wonder that Joker is the one truly behind the whole plot.
- Joke’s On You: Turns out, Joker is pissed at the LOD and concocted this plan just because they let Harley in. He proceeds to cause chaos in Gotham, and King Shark mentions that they’re totally screwed. (We’ve never loved him more.) Joker and the Queen of Fables celebrate their success, up until Joker realizes that Harley is still alive. While Fables goes to kill them for real, Joker completely takes over Gotham City.
- A Bold Move: Harley and her crew decide that they need to get the trees away from the tower so that they can take down Joker. While Clayface puts forth one of his unique ideas, Ivy spies a hose full of the plant serum and decides to use it on herself to lure the trees away. Kite Man takes this opportunity to propose to Ivy, and obviously, she says they’ll come back to that later. Once she’s ingested the serum, Ivy turns giant and begins to wreck the evil trees.
- Meet Grandma: With the trees distracted, Harley and Co. run to the tower’s entrance. However, they’re confronted by Fables, who sicks the big bad wolf on them. The wolf chases down the crew, but Harley is able to take him down and surprise Fables, decapitating her with one swing of her baseball bat. With Fables defeated and the trees (mostly) taken down, the crew claims a small victory.
- The Fall of a Great: Harley and Ivy share a brief moment after Ivy rescued her from a tree, and we love to see it. The two make amends, and all is well… until a harpoon shoots straight through Ivy’s chest. We reserved all our hate for the Joker for this very moment. As Harley screams and her crew looks on in shock and terror, Ivy collapses to the ground and shrinks back down to normal size. Harley begs her to stay with her, but Ivy says she can’t and dies, the grass beneath her blooming with flowers soon after. Everyone is devastated by her death, especially Harley and Kite Man. As the Joker laughs maniacally, Harley screams in despair, and all that’s left to say is… what the hell is supposed to come next?
Hope you all enjoyed Harley this week! Be sure to join us here next week for another all new episode and recap! Let us know what you think in the forum or the comments below.
